Welcome to our family blog about our camping adventures! For the last 15 years, we have been camping with our 3 kids, usually our dogs and anyone who wants to come along. The kids are now 15, 16 and 18 years old. They all had their first camping trips as infants…..it is much easier now! Family camping is a basic family value for us. It is a time that the kids can “unplug” (well, mostly), learn to do nothing, entertain themselves, and work together. It is a time for my husband and I to do something we both enjoy and get away from the stresses of the city. We believe that time in nature keeps our family close and teaches everyone a whole lot of patience, flexibility and tolerance!
How we roll……
*Typically in a pop-up or a tent. The pop-up is nothing fancy–no toilet or shower–just a way to be off the ground.
*Occasionally a back-pack trip—but this is pretty hardcore. We like car camping!
*We LOVE group camping! The idea of the temporary “tent city” is disturbingly fun.
*We are basically Colorado red-necks….meaning we like our BB guns and real ones also, our kids entertain themselves with pocket knives and we let our dogs run loose. THEREFORE…we primarily are dispersed campers as far away from people as we can get! We do sometimes “campground” camp and then we try and follow the rules 🙂
**Update! We still have our pop up but my parents bought a 5th wheel and we will be trying that out some! We think it would be great to base camp with a 5th wheel and go out on backpacking adventures….we will see!
This blog is an attempt to share locations and tips about Colorado camping—-Fritz style. We’ll start out with current trips and then add some past ones in the mix if we can remember all the details. We don’t tend to go back to the same place twice.
We hope that this blog will encourage others to camp often, once in awhile—or at least try it once!
